About IDAT

The International Diagnostic and Admissions Test (IDAT) is revolutionising school admissions and diagnostics for beginning students.  As the world becomes more international and students are global citizens, it is less and less likely that a student will complete all of his/her schooling in one learning environment.  With students and families searching for the best learning opportunities for their students as they move about as global citizens, it becomes increasingly difficult for schools to select students which fit within their schools and for schools to know what students already know, who they are and how to best meet their learning needs.  The educators and students of the world need the IDAT.

The IDAT has 6 Stages based upon the year of study.  For schools looking at accessing more than language for admissions, this is the test to use.  The IDAT tests English and ESL, mathematics, logic, and a general knowledge component for which students can study and prepare for.  In addition to this, there is a character portrait of the student, showing their priorities when it comes to principles, values, self-determination and independence.  Not only can a potential or new school get a benchmark of where the student is at compared to global curricula, but they can also get to know the student by watching the video interview conducted with state-of-the-art avatar technology.  Each student is interviewed and recorded talking to a digital avatar that ‘gets to know’ the student.

With consultation of a child psychologist with a specialisation in educational support, the IDAT uses multiple-choice questions of preference and affinity to assess executive skills of students.  The skills chosen have been chosen in terms of desired and important behaviour for success in a global education environment.

The IDAT team of educational and ESL experts have responsibly used a quality assurance process which includes validation by a team of external international education experts. These teams have worked on assessment validation of various sorts throughout the world including those for public schools, private education and ESL preparatory schools across four continents. The curricula being assessed have been mapped across all major educational systems and curricula making the ‘classroom readiness’ comparable across different curricula and learning plans.

In a global world,  where it is difficult to verify local transcripts and know students’ knowledge base from previous schooling, the security and validity for an external test are paramount. With this in mind, the IDAT has adopted high-level facial recognition ID for the duration of the test. The student signed on to take the test (and verified with passports) MUST be the student sitting in front of the computer screen for the duration of the test. The test can only be completed in a supervised environment (in a school which registers to proctor or in a worldwide testing centre). The results and interview can be viewed in a one-time use window on the IDAT website given to up to three schools within six months of the test and verified through password and entry criteria. Every precaution has been taken for the test to be valid and fair and the results to be secure and accurate.
