IDAT Terms and Conditions
These terms and conditions apply to IDAT tests in all locations. It is the responsibility of all test takers and their guardians, for those under 18 years of age, to be aware of the test terms and conditions. The Test Taker Handbooks that apply to IDAT, IDAT Concise, IDAT Secure 360 and/or are specific to a certain school are to be read and considered to part of the test terms and conditions.
REGISTRATION
All registration information for booking a test must be completed in full, with accurate and up-to-date information. Should any information change before the test date, it is the student or the guardian’s responsibility to update the test centre before the day of the test. Students must provide relevant and valid identification documents to the IDAT. Students who fail to provide valid identification within 24 hours of testing will not be allowed to take the test and will not be eligible for a transfer or refund. If you have any trouble with ID or cannot upload it, send an email to info@idat.org
. Students or families who provide false or inaccurate information will not be allowed to take the test and will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.
Any student who registers for a test but does not arrive on test day will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.
Any student who is unable to take the test on the test day due to a lack of correct equipment, connectivity, or preparation of this equipment will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.
Students must list up to three schools to receive their results at the time of booking. If students fail to include this information during booking, they will incur a $10 charge per school they elect to receive the results after the initial booking date. Only schools receive full official results from IDAT, and students can view only a summary of scores in their own account. Schools will not accept a student version of the results for admissions. It is the responsibility of the student/parents to know if they are applying to a school that requires exclusivity of results.
For the IDAT Concise English and IDAT Concise Total, schools must register students for this test. No student can directly register or take this test. It must be registered by a recognised school partner through the school booking portal. Only the registering school will receive results.
Students taking the IDAT Concise English and IDAT Concise Total can register for an account to practise and prepare for the test. Note that preparation in the online portal is for the IDAT test and not the IDAT Concise English or IDAT Concise Total. All tests follow the same curriculum and outcomes; however, the speaking, listening, and writing components for IDAT Concise English and IDAT Concise Total are delivered in a slightly different format.
Students under 18 years of age require parental permission to register for the test, and IDAT reserves the right to contact the parent using the provided details to confirm permission. If guardian permission is in doubt, the student may not be permitted to take the test.
Both the IDAT Secure 360 and in-person proctored tests must adhere to IDAT’s stringent proctoring rules, terms, and conditions. IDAT Concise English and IDAT Concise Total are proctored in schools by qualified teaching staff or via IDAT Secure 360 video proctoring without a live proctor.
IDAT Concise English and IDAT Concise Total results will be issued immediately following test completion.
Any student who does not take the test supervised in a school will be required to take the IDAT Secure 360 test. This is the preferred method of test invigilation, as it allows the IDAT team to supervise more aspects of the test. All students are required to download the IDAT application and take the test on the IDAT platform.
For all tests using the IDAT Secure 360 system, parents and students are responsible for trialling the setup and ensuring the correct configuration on the test date. Any test where the setup is not completed correctly will not have results officially recognised or issued, and schools/families will forfeit the used test code. No refund is available. It is the responsibility of the school and guardian to follow the stringent IDAT Secure 360 setup guidelines.
It is the responsibility of the guardian and student to ensure they meet the equipment and internet requirements when booking an IDAT Secure 360 test via www.idat.org
Additionally, the student/guardian must accurately complete the system trial as outlined in the booking email. Failure to do so means the test is not eligible for a refund. When a system trial is successfully completed, the IDAT team is notified electronically.
If the student is unprepared for the test, including failure to set up the required equipment, the test will be cancelled, and the student will not be eligible for a refund or credit. If the test cannot be taken due to unstable internet on the test day, the test will be rescheduled once at no additional cost, provided the issue is resolved. If the test cannot be completed after rescheduling, the test fee will be forfeited, and the student must purchase a new test.
Rescheduling is permitted only on scheduled test days that are available. If a specific test day is required as special consideration, an additional fee of $100 USD will apply to cover proctoring and supervision outside normal operating hours.

- Secure, stable, high-speed internet with a minimum of 50 Mbps upstream bandwidth
In locations where students have secure and fast internet access, IDAT Secure 360 is the preferred method of proctoring unless a receiving school specifies otherwise.
If students fail to set up their audio system correctly, requiring IDAT to synchronise rear audio from a mobile device, a $10 fee will be charged. This fee is payable by the school via the IDAT Concise portal if audio review is required. Schools may absorb this cost or pass it on to the student at their discretion.
IDAT stands behind the integrity and security of IDAT Secure 360 and the reliability of test results.
IDAT Concise English and IDAT Concise Total tests conducted via IDAT Secure 360 video proctoring will have provisional results released immediately after test completion. These results are sent to the school. Within 72 hours, test recordings are reviewed, and results are either confirmed or rescinded. Use of Artificial Intelligence in Assessment
Certain IDAT assessments, including the IDAT Concise Writing Test and related practice, training, or mock tests, may be marked using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. This may include the use of an AI model accessed via a secure application programming interface (API) within a paid AI service account.
Marks generated through AI-assisted assessment are produced strictly in accordance with IDAT’s detailed descriptors, marking criteria, and assessment guidelines, and are carefully monitored and reviewed by IDAT to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with IDAT standards.
For other IDAT assessments, including but not limited to the full IDAT and the IDAT for Scholarship Students, student writing responses may be processed through AI-supported tools as part of the assessment workflow. In all such cases, the final mark and outcome are determined and issued by a trained IDAT assessor.
